Collared Doves

Collared Doves were imported from Europe to the Bahamas in the 1970's, and have subsequently spread across North America from Florida, to California, and as far north as Alasaka. These quiet little birds are now considered invasive in some areas - though they are not ones we had seen before.

These ones were calmly scrabbling at the gravel at the street end of a driveway. They weren't penned, so I would imagine the wild flock they were part of would wing somewhere else more attractive when this area lost its appeal.
