immature Golden-crowned Sparrow

Immature, and winter-cloaked Golden-crowned Sparrows have much softer colouring than adults in breeding season. At that time, the yellow stripe on their heads is a deep gold bordered by jet black on either side. And though winter adults have more muted colouring than breeding ones, it's even less less distinct on this immature bird.
