GalleryNATUREBIRDSWATER BIRDSDivers flock of pelicans near Creston

When we took a little jog in our trip to include the Creston Valley Wildlife area, I had fingers crossed that we might see something out of our norm. I didn't quite want to put words to what I hoped for fear of jinxing the results, so I kept an open mind. Success. Not only did we see Pelicans, but we saw a whole sky full of them spinning circles high above us. The area is part of their flypast for their summer and winter grounds - and one local told us it appears that's changing as it seems some of them may be wintering over as well.
Sadly, our mirrorless doesn't have the chops for this kind of distance, so the trusty Panasonic superzoom brought them in really close. Next time I'm going to want something more powerful.
