male Lesser Scaup - swimming away

Playing dead just took on a colourful tone: Whatbird.com says: an adult Lesser Scaup "may pretend to be dead (immobile with head extended, eyes open, and wings held close to body) when grasped by a red fox." And I would imagine, that should mean it would play dead when any predator took the lead. This one just swam away when it heard me squeaking towards the bank in my noisy little duck boots.
