GalleryNATUREPLANTSWILD Touch Me Not, or Himalayan Balsam
prev next
Touch Me Nots are very invasive wildflowers that were introduced to the Lower Mainland in the 1930s. Many areas are doing their best to eradicate it, but in the meantime those with the plants still in place are graced with a variety of coloured flowers, from a soft white, through pink, into purple, and dipping into orange.
When the plant matures, the seeds explode from their pods with a brush, or a touch - probably why they have spread so far.
