Lake Louise view

People talk about the clear turquoise colour of Lake Louise with reverence. And with good reason. Compared to other creeks, streams, rivers, and bodies of water it has an uncommon hue. Thank the glacial runoff for that - bringing minscule crushed rock particles that refract the clear aqua colour.

It was named for the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria, Princess Louise Caroline Alberta (1849-1939) - the wife of Canada's Governor General from 1878 to 1813, John Campbell, the Marquess of Lorne.
