GalleryNATURETINY SURPRISESBUTTERFLIES ... White Admiral butterfly
prev nextWhen I first looked this butterfly up I thought it was a White Admiral - very striking dark wings offset by white spots as this one has. On looking further though, White Admirals aren't supposed to range quite as far as the Pacific coast, so more searching pinpointed this as a Lorquin's Amiral Butterfly. Their range is from mid-southern BC south along the coast to Baja California, and east to the Rockies. However, this one doesn't have the bright orange shoulders the Lourquin's have .. so it's back to the White Admiral.
