GalleryNATURETINY SURPRISESDRAGONFLIES ... dead female Shadow Darner (Aeshna umbrosa) dragonfly
prev next
I almost missed this one at our feet, but my husband pointed to it and said to watch out. It was dead already, and crawling with ants (this picture doesn't have any, but others do). I was lucky I had my cell phone with me as I was able to get a few snaps - and it was such a gorgeous little girl that I'm glad I did. I figured by the time we got home and back again with my other camera, it'd be practically a memory. Amazingly, both of us just thought it was a dull brown dragonfly, but when I moved it off the cell, I was suprised by how much colour there was in the pattern along its body.
