Paddle-tailed Darners mating

We trekked along a quiet trail studded with huge mushrooms and the odd darting Dragongfly. Not a lot of birds singing as we went, but as the trees cleared nearing the marshy trail end, everything brightened and the dragons, as well as a few butterflies made quite a few swoops around us. Though I proved to be the antithesis of a mountain goat, my niece carried her 2 year old toddler and showed what mountain goats only wished they could accomplish.

This pair of Paddle-tails was oblivious to everything as they took care of things ... and thanks to Jim Johnson of Western Odonata and odonata.bogfoot.net for confirming them for me.
